Hitoyoshi (人吉市 Hitoyoshi-shi?) is a city located in Kumamoto, Japan.

As of 2008, the city has an estimated population of 36,297 and the density of 172 persons per km². The total area is 210.55 km².

The city was founded on February 11, 1942.

It is famous for going down stream on a boat and hot springs.

It is the center of Hitoyoshi and the Kuma district.
